At Good*Fella Media, our contributors are a collection of creatives, motivators, and doers who progress our business forward day in and day out. We work hard to attract and retain the best in the business and maintain quality, informative content to keep our readers entertained and informed.
We’re currently hiring interns in all departments. If you’ve got a background in journalism, social media, marketing, promotions, graphic design, or photography/videography then we want to hear from you. Don’t be shy!
All positions come with exclusive access to the music and entertainment industries and are great resume builders. Internships are unpaid, but many of our past interns have gone on to become fully-salaried employees in well known media companies. We prefer candidates who are currently enrolled in a two or four year college, though we’ll make exceptions if you’ve got the juice (juice = dedication). Internships typically last for a single school year, but may be extended for those who consistently deliver.
If you’re interested in becoming a G*FM intern, email your cover letter, resume, and portfolio to [email protected]. Check our the detailed departments below.
Applicants for editorial internships should have a strong knowledge of WordPress and a background in journalism or creative writing—but if you passionate enough we’re willing to train you (after all, everyone needs a first chance). Editorial interns will assist with the research and writing of new music releases, news stories, interviews, album reviews, original content and/or event coverage. Interns should also have an eye for breaking news and be able to pitch original ideas. It’s possible interns may receive press passes to events and participate in phone or in-person interviews with hip-hop artists, actors, athletes, models, or other cultural personalities. If you’ve got a great article or story idea you’d like to pitch e-mail us. We’d love to help you make it happen!
Applicants for photography and videography internships should own HD camera equipment. Contributing interns will be required to document private events, concerts, fashion shows, interviews, promos and any personal G*FM projects. In most instances interns will receive press passes for events. All intern work will be credited with links to personal websites/portfolios.
Applicants for marketing internships should be outgoing, adventurous, and sociable. Marketing interns are often relied on to interact with the public at major hip-hop events and represent the G*FM brand at concerts, festivals, and industry events. General responsibilities include creating visibility for the brand, website, and social media properties.
Applicants for art department internships should have a background in graphic design, website design, digital illustration, or visual identity and branding. Applicants should have a strong knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator and a familiarity with basic principles of page layout, typography, logo design and branding.
