Last night I went through my iTunes and cleaned up my library/added new music to my iPhone. It’s a process that takes a couple hours not only because I get caught up listening to old albums and songs that I forgot about but also because I have a ridiculous amount of music on my hard drive (easily over 10,000 songs). What’s ironic is that last night I ran through my entire Max B archive which was crucial to my love for hip hop throughout high school. I’m pretty sure I have every Max B song that he has ever released.
So today, Ab-Soul releases a new track produced by Statik Selektah in tribute to Max B. Last night, he along with Retch, Thelonious Martin, and others were on Shade 45 for an interview. The chorus to this song sounds just like something Max B would do would do and at the end of the track there is a short audio snippet from a phone call to Max who is currently incarcerated on murder charges (#FREEMAXB).
Check out the track below.
Joey Fatts and Vince Staples connect in the music video for “Million $ Dreams.” The entire video was shot in black and white and edited by FRESHPres. The video opens showing Vince tagging along for hit before getting jumped in by the rest of the crew. The video is about brotherhood, trust, and showing how much you will be there for your brothers. This is a dope track and will be on Joey’s upcoming Chipper Jones Vol. 3, which is set to be released on August 3rd.
Seems like we’ve been waiting for Sir Michael Rocks‘ Banco album for the longest. As he gears up for the July 29th release, he unviels his latest video for “F*** SeaWorld.” The video is directed by UNKLELUC and showcases plenty appearances from our animal friends including flamingos and whales swimming. Michael Rocks and Robb Bank$ are two rappers who notoriously blend rapping with topics from my childhood (video games, cartoons, and card games) and I think that’s always pretty clever. The album which drops later this month will have guest appearances from Casey Veggies,Too $hort and more. Watch the video below and be on the lookout for the album.
The fans have been waiting for something new from the Chicago spitter, Vic Mensa. Stay tuned as Vic’s EP, Street Lights is set to drop soon. Watch the video below!
