Strong Foundation: Clippers Extend Doc Rivers For 5 Years

Doc and Ballmer

No sports organization has been through more of a whirlwind than the Los Angeles Clippers. First they were sailing high into the playoffs with Doc Rivers leading the team to its highest win total in franchise history. Then their now former owner the slob that is Donald Sterling had his phone call conversation linked with his side chick that revealed Sterling’s racial ideologies. Then Adam Silver put Sterling in a body bag and saved the day. The Clippers have a new, enthusiastic owner Steve Ballmer who has pledged his allegiance to President and Head Coach Doc Rivers.

The Clippers have given Rivers a five-year extension worth $50 million according to Yahoo! Sports, locking him up in LA until the end of the 2019 season. The extension is a deal that assures Rivers and Chris Paul will be in LA for the long term. Both threatened to leave the team if the bigot Sterling remained the owner, but that is all in the past. The future is expected to have a lot of playoff games and maybe a couple banners to raise. For the present time the Clippers are LA’s basketball team and its finally okay to see your favorite team is from LA and not named the Lakers.
