Kanye West – ‘No More Parties In LA’ ft. Kendrick Lamar

Kanye West is back…that is what the world has been saying ever since hearing “No More Parties In LA,” the new cut set to be featured on SWISH WAVES. With an assist from Kendrick Lamar, Kanye uses Madlib’s production to rev up the engine on his first album since 2013. What makes this standout is the fact that Kanye is back to rapping here. No trends, no experiments, just bars.

Production: Back to soul samples, can we really complain? Madlib flips Junie Morrison’s “Suzie Thundertussy” to make something for the two to get their stories off. 8/10.

Lyrics/Substance: Kendrick Lamar tells the story of a young artists seeing how love gets lost in Hollywood. Females looking for the come up damaging whatever they may have to on their quest. His story is compelling. Then Kanye comes in with a verse that many have applauded, but it’s a bit scatterbrained. 7/10.

Originality: The premise is so dope. Naming a song after one of the greatest places people go to party, only to tell them not to go party there is something else. The lyrics start on the premise, but unravels as it goes on. 7/10.

Replay Value: With these two anything is replayable. I doubt anybody has listened to this song just once, but if it has that long life is still up for debate. 7/10.
