5. Bountygate 2.0
Does the NFL have another big investigation on the way? With no major scandal to distract people from some of the league’s bigger issues expect the league office to take a hard look at what happened during the Minnesota Vikings-St. Louis Rams game. The Rams’ defensive coordinator is Greg Williams, the same Greg Williams that was the defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints in the midst of Bountygate.
For those unfamiliar with Bountygate, Williams allegedly gave players incentives to knock the opposing guys out from 2009 (year Saints won the Super Bowl and knocked out the Vikings in NFC Championship) to 2011. Now, fast forward to Sunday, Rams defender Lamarcus Joyner hits Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater with a coward shot, knocking Bridgewater out cold. The Vikings went on to win, but head coach Mike Zimmer was fuming after the game and even pointed out Williams’ shady past and that if they were on the street they’d be fighting. Stay tuned, this one is definitely going to get some attention.
