CNN Found It Notable That No Violence Occurred At ‘Straight Outta Compton’ Screenings

Friday, August 14, “Straight Outta Compton” came out in theaters and did extremely well in the box office.  However, what CNN found to be more newsworthy was the fact that amidst the long lines to see the movie, no shootings, stabbings or killings occurred.

CNN’s headline reads “HIP-HOP FILM HAD LONG LINES, NO VIOLENCE,” as if to give these individuals who went out to see the film a pat on the back.  Bravo hip-hop fans!  See photo and tweet below.

After the tragic movie theater shooting in July where two females were shot and killed at a “Trainwreck” screening, security has been enhanced in movie theaters.  Whether or not the enhanced security is the reason behind the lack of violence at this particular opening weekend is up for debate.  The real question is, why is “Straight Outta Compton” receiving the most buzz and befuddlement over it’s peaceful screenings?
