Sporting*Goods: Ronda Rousey Does What She Does Best, RIP Roddy Piper

“I’m living in the 21st century doin’ something mean to it / Do it better then anybody you ever seen do it
/ Screams from the haters, got a nice ring to it / I guess every superhero need his theme music.” – Kanye West Power

Ronda Rousey has done nothing but dominate since stepping into the national spotlight. She is now the UFC’s prized possession and cash cow in addition to becoming one of the most recognizable athletes in the world. Rousey got there by doing what she did to challenger Bethe Correia this past Saturday at UFC 190–she beat the f–k out of her in thirty seconds. For those scoring at home that was her fourth straight fight that ended before the 1:30 mark of round one, something only Mike Tyson can boast doing.

Clearly we are witnessing greatness every time she steps into the octagon and the way things are going she might not be around much longer, there are only so many contenders to pummel. Rousey dedicated her dominating win Saturday to fallen WWE legend Rowdy Roddy Piper who passed away last Friday. Piper gave his blessings to Rousey to use his infamous “Rowdy” nickname and for anyone that has been around professional wrestling they know that’s a pretty big deal. Piper is the second WWE legend to pass away this year–Dusty Rhodes passed just a couple months ago–and he will certainly be missed.
