Berner made his first appearance in NYC last weekend at Webster Hall. The show began around 9:00pm as fans started to pack into The Studio hall on the first floor. The stoners in the crowd didn’t have that much fun, as tight security made sure they confiscated weed from every single person who walked through the door. Womp. Even though some people snuck pass security with blunts, it still wasn’t the typical smoked out Berner concerts that fans are use too. However, the performances of the night made up for it.
The night started off with a performance from newcomer Anonymous That Guy, who performed songs from his unreleased mixtapes Coffee and Kush. He also gave everybody a free copy, so fans could get a sneak peek of what’s to come. The 22-track tape features the likes of Kevin Gates, Berner and Kool John. The night then continued with Arizona native J-Hornay, who brought a more mellow feel to the crowd with his songs. He also put an end to the “none smoking” vibe by throwing packs of what seem to be blunts into the crowd.
Demrick got the crowd going again with multiple tracks, especially his hit song “Blowin’ Money Fast.” His songs and energy were on point, and the perfect intro for Berner. He got the crowd hyped and he even gave out some of his T-Shirts to lucky members in the audience. His DJ, Scoop Deville added to the performance by showing off his array of skills—both rapping and on the 1’s and 2’s. The performance was great way to get the crowd going before the Main Act.
DJ Tephlon played a range of Berner tracks dating back to 2010 and the crowd, of course, went crazy. For his first show in NY , Berner wasn’t sure what type of love he’d get coming down to the East Coast for the first time, but the support was definitely there as he had people supporting His Cookie Brand clothing line. By the end of the performance Berner got a chant for “one last song.” The people wanted an encore and that’s what he gave them. Berner came out and played his hit song “20 joints.” The crowd instantly went crazy and even got Berner’s right hand man Raybama to go crowd surfing.
The Cookies Or Better Tour is a concert that people should definitely check out and experience firsthand, because, well…it was lit. Check out a few photos from the show below.
