Kendrick Lamar Sued for ‘Blacker the Berry’ Artwork


Kendrick Lamar is being sued for allegedly using the photograph to promote his single, “The Blacker the Berry” off his album To Pimp a Butterfly, without permission.

Giordano Cipriani, a freelance photographer, named Kendrick, Top Dawg Entertainment, Interscope Records and Aftermath Entertainment in the suit, arguing that they used a photo from the photographer’s trip to Africa of 2011 of a women breastfeeding two children. Cipriani is requesting $150,000 every time the image was used (in addition to lawyer fees).
