To recap, the Hey Mama singer lashed out via Twitter on Tuesday (July 22) after learning that both ‘Anaconda’ nor ‘Feelin’ Myself’ were nominated for video of the year at the upcoming VMA’s. Minaj expressed her outrage through a series of tweets, not to mention calling the industry ‘racist,’ but Taylor Swift then placed herself unnecessarily amidst all of the chaos.
Soon after Twitter exploded with angst, Bruno Mars decided to playfully join in on the action. Hoping to make light of the situation, he called out Ed Sheeran, who then poked fun at the Uptown Funk singer’s height. However, it wasn’t long before Ed Sheeran added his input on the beef in it’s entirety, defending longtime friend, Taylor Swift.
“She didn’t nominate herself for the awards,”he told The Daily Telegraph. “It’s not her fault, she just made some good videos and people think they’re good….And I think the Minaj point is a bit redundant, her point is that you have to be skinny and white to get a video of the year nomination but Beyoncé’s ‘7/11’ is in there and that is celebrating the female figure in every form.”
He makes a valid point.
