WTF Happened In Sports This Week: Spurs Win The Summer League & Clayton Kershaw Is Back

Hard to believe but we officially have one more week of July and roughly one month left of summer. Let’s have a moment of silence to those returning to school.

Good, now this week will not be remembered for much, but it will be remembered. Some serious history was made in the NBA with San Antonio Spurs Summer League head coach Becky Hammon becoming the first woman head coach to capture a Summer League title. This goes on to further prove that the Spurs are just better than their peers in virtually everything. Salute to Coach Hammon, the Spurs and Summer League MVP—and New Jersey native—Kyle Anderson on the championship win.

So as we say goodbye to the Summer League we are also saying goodbye to professional basketball until October, leaving baseball as the sole entertainer yet again. On the surface this sounds terrible and makes you want to make a lot of extra summer trips, but trust me it’s not that bad. The trade deadline is next Friday and that’s always entertaining and the players tend to quick it up a notch around this time. Evidence of that is the play of Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw. The reigning NL MVP must have heard people whispering fell off because he has been filthy since the All-Star break.

See what Kershaw has done and what else went on in this edition of WTF Happened In Sports This Week.
