The sports scene has been dry since the NBA Finals wrapped up. Since then we have made baseball more interesting than it really is, made way too big of a deal about NBA free agency and the draft, and have even started watching Major League Soccer. Clearly we cannot wait for football season to come back—only six weeks away!!—and will watch anything to pass the time.

Well this week our job was made easier thanks to the NBA Summer League, MLB Home Run Derby and the UFC’s Conor McGregor. The aforementioned McGregor set the tone for the week by knocking out Chad Mendes and becoming interim featherweight champion as well as the new face of the UFC. The Home Run Derby debuted it’s new tournament-style format and the results were stellar as we all had flashbacks to our own backyard derbies.

In between all that was the NBA’s Vegas Summer League where all the top draft picks were on full display. Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis finally showed Americans what he’s working with, Karl Anthony Towns reassured everyone that he is working with some serious skills. See who else showed out at the Summer League and everything else that went down in this edition of WTF Happened In Sports This Week.
