The 21 year old white man accused of killing a group of black churchgoers has been charged with nine counts of murder and one for the possession of a firearm, as announced by the Charleston Police Department, which ultimately may insure the death penalty.
The killer, Dylann Roof, has since confessed to his role in the shooting at the historical black church and did not attempt to resist arrest once authorities had located his person.
According to officials, this was all an attempt to begin a race war. Marking his actions against unarmed civilians as an extreme and tragic act of terror.
Many questions remain unanswered at this time and a community is left brokenhearted. Roof is currently before a South Carolina judge as we speak.
