Riot Break Out At Summer Jam, Police Release Tear Gas

There’s always a Summer Jam surprise and this year it was no different. The surprise, however, was not one fans expected, or cared for.

Riots broke out outside of Hot 97′s Summer Jam concert after crowds of people—with and without ticket—tried to “illegally” force their way into the sold out show by climbing over fences and forcing their way through security. Police were forced to use tear gas and, according to reports, that’s when things escalated. Sgt. Gregory Williams told the AP that additional troops were sent for “crowd control” and that arrests have been made.

Hot 97 has announced that tickets that guests whose tickets were not scanned will be refunded.
