Davido is putting on for the Motherland.
Yes, this Nigerian Afropop singer is taking both the Nigerian and American music industry by storm. A recipient of several Nigerian awards, such as a Ghana Music Award and several Nigerian Music Awards, the singer was bound to eventually make headway in America, ultimately winning BET and MTV Music Awards.
But, make no mistake, Davido is no rookie to the music business. Getting his start after releasing his first single back in 2011 titled “Dami Duro,” the singer went on to produce for other Nigerian artists, open a recording studio in Nigeria, and still continue to make his own music.
With that in mind, Davido’s recent collaboration with American artist, Meek Mill, “Fans Mi” is definitely giving Meek’s current work a run for his money. The catchy hit discusses the idea of “back then they didn’t want me, now I’m hot they all on me.” Which, of course, is something we can all relate to. If you can’t relate to it yet, it’s coming. Promise. Just wait on it.
