Coach K Admits To Using Secret Twitter Profile To Monitor Players

If you ever wondered if Duke men’s basketball head coach Mike Krzyzewski had a Twitter account–I don’t know why you’d be wondering that–the answer is yes. Only the account isn’t under his name. Confused? Don’t be, Coach K did that for a reason–to monitor his players.

In an interview with ESPN Coach K said that he doesn’t want the attention of maintaining a high profile Twitter account, but does want to see if his players are saying stupid sh*t (something basketball players have the tendency of doing).

From the interview:

“I follow guys. I don’t want to be on Twitter because I don’t care. I don’t want their opinions. I don’t need to show that I have X amount of followers. But I follow a lot of people on Twitter, under an alias. I tell my guys I’m following you. Then if I see something, you text them, you gotta watch. But there are a lot of cool things that they do. I do like that they do it.”

Breathe easy future and present Duke players it isn’t all that bad after all. The only question I have is does he have multiple accounts? Sooner or later players will catch on. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn’t–that’s just what Coach K wants you to think.
