Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, has made her first appearance as a woman on the cover of Vanity Fair‘s July issue, photographed by Annie Leibovitz. On the cover Jenner introduces herself: “Call me Caitlyn.”
In the accompanying story, Jenner talks to Buzz Bissinger, Pulitzer Prize–winning writer of the acclaimed Friday Night Lights, about her decision to transition, and the tensions and courage that shaped her journey to becoming a woman.
“If I was lying on my deathbed and I had kept this secret and never ever did anything about it, I would be lying there saying, ‘You just blew your entire life.'”
Shortly after the cover was revealed, Jenner tweeted about it from her new Twitter account:
I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me.
