You’re already familiar with 20-year-old Berlin singer/songwriter Bibi Bourelly whether you know it or not. You know that new Rihanna track, “Bitch Better Have My Money“? Yeah, Bibi chick wrote that. Not to mention she is also the creative genius behind another single on Rhianna’s new record, a song entitled “Higher.”
In fact, she’s been writing music her entire life—the last 16 years to be exact. Her father was also a musician, so she was exposed to it a lot as a child while accompanying her father on multiple tours. All of Bourelly’s inspiration is drawn from the culture she grew up in.
“Berlin is who I am. Berlin is my music, the way I dress, the way I talk. I grew up running around the subways and streets of that city.”
Bibi Bourelly was never one to conform to societal norms. She had a clear mindset that formal education was not for her, and instead decided to delve right into the industry. Like many artists before her, she packed up her things and set out for L.A.
“Some people think doing music or art is an unrealistic goal, but for me music is my reality. In my mind, going to college is what’s unrealistic, that didn’t make sense to me. I knew this would eventually pay off. It’s about trusting yourself enough to be yourself.”
Bibi has been featured on tracks with artists such as Blaq Tuxedo and Louie Black. Although the world has yet to experience a taste of her music, she promises to be putting out her own songs in the very near future. So be sure to stay tuned.
In the meantime, you can catch a sneak peak of Bibi’s latest work below, including her new single “RIOT.”
