It’s no surprise that Madonna has exhausted The Billboard’s Dance Club Song Chart for over thirty years. Pumping out hit after hit, over 44 singles of hers managing to claim and withhold the number one spot for consecutive weeks. Now in 2015, the queen of pop is making history after her 45th single, ‘Ghosttown,’ moved to the number one spot on The Billboard Chart.
This accomplishment rightly allocates Madonna the title “Most Number 1’s of any artist on a single Billboard chart.” She has even surpassed some of the greats of our generation today, including both Beyonce and Rihanna who together total about 22 No. 1 hits. But that’s no surprise, seeing as how Madonna has been in the game since the early 80’s. The first time the artist experienced Billboard glory was back in 1983, when her single “Holiday” held down the number one spot for five consecutive weeks.
Fast forward to 2015, the queen of pop continues to dominate. In a recent interview with Billboard, Madonna expressed her gratitude towards her loyal fans,”Thanks to all my fans on & off the dance floor.”
