Chicago Bulls Fire Head Coach Tom Thibodeau

Whoever came up with the phrase “you get what you put into it” Tom Thibodeau would like a word with you. Despite making the playoffs in each of his five seasons as Chicago Bulls head coach the team showed him the door today. Thibodeau leaves with an impressive record of 394-255 and no shortage of head coaching offers. As for the Bulls, I just don’t see what the hell they were thinking.

According to Nick Friedell of ESPN Thibodeau and Bulls brass got along as well a couple of ‘Basketball Wives’ with a camera in front of them. The tipping point though seemed to be the Bulls inability to take care of an injury-riddled Cavs team in the second round of this year’s playoffs. Hell if every coach lost his job because he couldn’t stop LeBron James the whole league would be out of work.

Now Thibodeau will likely take a head coaching position with the New Orleans Pelicans or Orlando Magic, two franchises on the come up. In a perfect world Thibodeau picks the Magic and torments the Bulls for the next five to ten years with a ferocious defensive backcourt of Elfrid Payton and Victor Oladipo.

As for the Bulls, all signs point to Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg. The mutual interest was a worst kept secret than Donald Trump‘s toupee. For the record Hoiberg’s team got eliminated on the first day of the NCAA Tournament. Great choice Bulls!
