Blues legend, B.B. King, also known as Riley B. King died Thursday (May 14). He was 89.
King’s daughter, Patty King, announced the departure of her father in Las Vegas after being in home hospice care for dehydration. The “King of Blues” also suffered from Type II diabetes.
King’s age began to affect him last year when the musician had to cancel the rest of his tour after a show “that did not match Mr. King’s usual standard of excellence,” according to his reps.
Famous for his staccato-picking guitar style and smooth voice, the Missouri native influenced greats from Eric Clapton to John Mayer. The legend was nominated for a Grammy 30 times and won 15 times.
Hip Hop offered their condolences via Twitter.
