The Notorious B.I.G, sometimes called Biggie Smalls may have chosen the latter moniker as a reference to the character of the same name in the 1975 movie Let’s Do It Again, but the rap star was anything but—and no, I’m not talking about size.
With enormous talent, a huge aura, immense record sales, and a tremendous, everlasting legacy, it’s no wonder we simply call him Biggie. Recognized as one of the greatest rappers to ever pick up the mic, he managed to attract listeners of all ages, races, shapes, and sizes. I’ll bet you a dollar there’s a one hundred percent chance he influenced your favorite rapper, if he, himself, isn’t already your favorite.
Born and raised in New York City, Christopher Wallace became a huge phenomenon early on in his career as seen by the success of his debut album Ready to Die, released in 1994, which went on to become certified 4x platinum by the RIAA. But his story didn’t stop there.
