Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland and a companion, Katrine Saltara were stabbed outside 1OAK in New York City last night following an altercation. According to reports Copeland and Saltra were arguing with each other when the suspect, 22-year-old Shezoy Bleary, and Copeland then got into an argument leading to Bleary stabbing Copeland in the elbow and abdomen area and slashing Saltara.
Both victims were taken to nearby Bellevue Hospital and were treated for non-life threatening injuries. The Pacers released a statement saying Cope was in stable condition. In the incident two Atlanta Hawks—Thabo Sefolosha and Pedro Antic–were reportedly arrested in the incident for obstructing justice.
If you’re wondering what two non-New York teams were doing in the city the Pacers are facing Copeland’s former team the Knicks tonight and the Hawks are playing the Nets. The NBA has yet to release a statement on the incident.
