Frank Ocean will finally release the long awaited follow up to his 2012 album Channel Orange.
On Monday (Apr. 6) night Ocean posted a photo of him looking down at a stack of magazines on Tumblr, with the caption:
“‘I got two versions. I got twoooo versions.’ #ISSUE1 #ALBUM3 #JULY2015 #BOYSDONTCRY.”
A rep for the singer confirmed to Billboard that both a new publication by Ocean and a new album will drop in July. While a title hasn’t been yet announced, the three hashtags in his caption suggest that the album or the publication might be titled Boys Don’t Cry.
In the three years since Channel Orange was released, Frank has been busy. He performed at the Grammys-and took one home, appeared on Jay-Z’s Magna Carta Holy Grail, John Mayer‘s Paradise Valley and Beyoncé‘s Beyoncé, feuded with Chris Brown, had a drawn-out lawsuit with Chipotle, and his father announced he was suing Russell Simmons. In November 2014, Ocean delivered “Memrise,” his second post-Channel Orange track after “Wise Man,” which was previously recorded for, but not released on, the Django Unchained soundtrack. In January, Ocean dropped his rendition of “At Your Best (You Are Love)” as a tribute to Aaliyah on what would have been her 36th birthday.
