Remember when Jay Z bought Scandinavian high-fidelity streaming service, TIDAL, last month? Well he’s been preparing for the relaunch that happened today at 5pm EST.
While we all waited for a big announcement, speculated to be the release of Jay and Bey’s rumored collab album, tons of big names supported Jay Z’s TIDAL movement by changing their profile pictures to the signature teal blue or tweeting #TIDALforALL. Some celebs include, Beyoncé, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna.
To say the least, there was no surprise album. Instead, the big announcement had to do with the new streaming service’s owners who included not only Jay, but Bey (of course), ‘Ye, Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj, Calvin Harris, Madonna, and Usher among others.
What is TIDAL exactly? Well its’ a rival to Spotify, that does not offer a free option, but better sound quality and more music. For example, every single one of Taylor Swift’s albums, they’ve got it. For standard audio users can pay $9.99 a month, but if they want to upgrade to something got high quality its $19.99 a month.
Right now, TIDAL is said to have deals with a lot of major record labels and promise it’s users great playlists and even editorial content. Don’t forget since Jay is Roc Nation, it’s more than likely that RiRi and Kanye could have their albums available on this app as well.
Spotify users have a lot to consider now.
