New York Jets Trade For Brandon Marshall

Brandon Marshall

The days of incompetency might finally be over for the New York Jets. New Jets GM Mike Maccagnan is already proving he is no John Idzik—a huge sigh of relief for the tortured fan base—evidenced by the big move made today. Gang Green completed a deal today that landed them star wide receiver Brandon Marshall from the Chicago Bears for a fifth-round draft pick according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

A move like this gives the Jets the number one receiver they have been looking for since Keyshawn Johnson called Gotham home. Now the only question that remains is who is going to be throwing to Marshall? Geno Smith has proven next to nothing. Is Marcus Mariota the man for the job if he falls to number six in the draft? Do the Jets trade that pick to the Eagles for Nick Foles?

Regardless of who is under center for the Jets next season they will finally have some talent around them for the first time in a loooong time. Now the Jets can go into the draft with a plethora of options starting with using the excess money the team will be saving once they cut Percy Harvin.

Maccagnan wasn’t done dealing today either. He also re-signed linebacker and core member David Harris to a three-year deal worth $21 million. The next order of business is bringing back Darrelle Revis and re-sign defensive lineman Mo Wilkerson.

Good times might finally be on the horizon Jets fans and not a moment too soon.
