Another one bites the dust.
Who didn’t see this one coming? Brian Shaw and the Denver Nuggets never seemed to gel since day one. Today the Nuggets have cut their losses, firing Shaw this morning according to Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post. Assistant coach Melvin Hunt will take over interim duties.
The #Nuggets have removed Brian Shaw as head coach this morning, according to a source. More details to come.

In just 141 games Shaw posted a pathetic 56-85 record with a team that was a playoff team the year before he arrived. Maybe the basketball gods hit the Nuggets with some good old fashioned karma after their questionable firing of George Karl in favor of Shaw. Whatever the hell happened we’re all glad it’s over.
So what’s next for Shaw and the Nuggets? For the Nuggets they can now enter full rebuilding mode and see which players they want to keep around for their rebuild and which players they want to ship out. For Shaw, a assistant coaching position is most likely the next move. His pathetic stint in Denver won’t attract any teams to interview him for a head coaching position. In all likelihood Shaw will be on the New York Knicks coaching staff next season.

Knicks president Phil Jackson and Shaw have a close relationship. When Jackson finally decided to retire from coaching he was grooming Shaw as a protege with the Lakers before Jimmy Buss made the first of a series of fatal mistakes by hiring the clownish Mike D’Antoni. With no one stopping Jackson this time expect Shaw to be calling Madison Square Garden home in the near future.
