DeMarco Murray To Sign With Eagles

DeMarco Murray

Well this might get awkward. The biggest free agent left on the market is leaving his team for a division foe–no I’m not talking about Darrelle Revis. I’m talking about DeMarco Murray. The now ex-Cowboys running back intends to sign with hated rival, the Philadelphia Eagles per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Murray led the NFL in rushing last year, but apparently that wasn’t enough to keep him in Dallas. It was reported that Murray personally called Eagles head coach Chip Kelly expressing his desire to play in Philly after the team acquired his former college roommate Sam Bradford via trade on Tuesday.

This move should help calm down the (rightfully) pissed off Eagles fans. Murray was the top offensive free agent and one could argue he is a slight upgrade from LeSean McCoy. But can Murray post similar numbers without that monster Cowboys offensive line? Possibly. Kelly’s run-heavy scheme can offset that.

Similar to Revis leaving the Patriots and signing with hated rival Jets, Murray’s exodus to Philly is sure to add that much more hatred to the Cowboys-Eagles rivalry.
