I was under the assumption everyone loved the Mo’Ne Davis story–someone dominating a field they aren’t supposed to is just too compelling not to love. Well my assumption was clearly wrong. Some people aren’t a fan of Ms. Davis, like now former Bloomsburg University baseball player Joey Casselberry.
Okay to be fair I can’t say he doesn’t like her, but he is not a fan of all the praise she is receiving. Casselberry sent this ill advised tweet to voice his displeasure over the pending Disney movie about Mo’Ne Davis.
Yikes Joey, tell us how you really feel. Bloomsburg showed Casselberry how they felt about his tweet–kicking him off the team. Again, yikes Joey. He has since deactivated his Twitter account (first smart move he’s made) after an outcry from the public and Bloomsburg has made it clear that Casselberry’s opinion is not one that reflects the school.
How did Mo’Ne feel about the whole situation? She took the highest road possible. She called Bloomsburg Univeristy President David L. Soltz to reconsider his dismissal. The university has praised Mo’Ne for her maturity in this situation, something Casselberry lacked, but said they are standing by their decision.
PS: If you are a pro athlete or prospective pro athlete I suggest you contact Mo’Ne Davis to find out who handles her public relations.
