On January 18th, the Hip-Hop community was deeply saddened by the loss of producer and co-founder of A$AP Mob, A$AP Yams. He was found in his New York apartment and the cause of death was unknown at the time.
Jon Caramanica, a New York Times Pop Critic, revealed Yams’ cause of death in a tweet yesterday. According to Chief Medical Examiner, the death was reportedly an overdose.

A$AP Rocky previously released a statement saying that there was no possible way that Yams had died from a drug overdose, but he seemed to be misinformed.
“People were saying that Yams overdosed on drugs — he didn’t overdose on any drugs. I feel like people feel that way because that’s all he’s in pictures doing. When you see A$AP Yams you see Hennessey or purple drink, you see some type of controlled substance or illegal narcotic.”
No matter the cause, R.I.P Yams.
