Veronika ‘V.’ Bozeman is a breath of fresh air on the musical scene. The soulful songstress is the latest to be taken under legendary producer Timbaland’s wing. Known as the “Race Jones” singer, she is taking the R&B world by storm with her distinct look and undeniably strong vocals all while embracing her Blackness.
The South Central, California native started her career after leaving home and relocating to Atlanta. V then joined a girl group, SodaPop Entertainment, which caught the attention of singer-songwriter-producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmunds back in 2008. The group was short lived after getting signed to his label, sending V back to square one. Instead of letting that stop her, V cultivated a relationship with Atlanta producer Polow Da Don. He enlisted her to do vocal production for artists such as Rihanna, Keri Hilson, Monica, Dirty Money, and Patti Labelle.
After years of doing work behind the scenes, V has stepped into the spotlight. Singing her song, “What is Love,” she opened the first episode of the hit series Empire. V has also been selected as the face of Lexus’ web mini-series, “Fresh Perspectives,” and participated in the PSA “Super Life: Fear Kills Love Heals,” launched by Chaka Khan in support of Trayvon Martin as a strong advocate for ending social injustices. She also performed the duet, “Fool For You” alongside Cee-Lo Green for an internationally streamed broadcast. This, however, is only the beginning.
Continuing on the path of success, V is getting ready to share with the world her new sound that she coins as Universal Soul Music. ‘Smile,’ is the first single off of her new duet project with Timbaland called Opera Noir. Be on the lookout for V. Bozeman as the next generation of soul music. She’s next.
