It’s been a while since we chopped it up with Kid Ink. We last spoke to him back in 2012 as a newly inducted XXL Freshman. Kymmi Cee was able to catch up with the now-seasoned L.A. rapper following the release of his sophomore album Full Speed, which is in stores now. The RCA signee talked about some of his favorite cuts on the album and working with Dej Loaf who will be joining him on the Scream Tour.

“At first I didn’t know how it was gonna work. She’s a brand new artist,” he revealed. “Sometimes when people work with me they kinda, you know, try not to be themselves as much as try to be a part of the Kid Ink song. She did everything she wanted to do on the record and made it her own. She sent it back to me and I was like ‘alright, this is dope.’”

Kid Ink and Kymmi Cee furthered the conversation by talking about some of his favorite places to tour, but things got extra interesting when Kid revealed the sure way to understanding any of Young Thug‘s lyrics.

When asked about his and Thugga’s collab cut on the album, Kid stated:

“I was in Miami, and I was pretty LIT. And I understood every word he [Young Thug] said the first time I listened to it. Now, when I was sober…something happened. Some of the words kinda—I forgot what they meant and I had to listen to it again.”
