Kanye is a step closer to finally seeing his fashion aspirations come to life.
Kanye West, one of the music industry’s biggest rap moguls, and Adidas, one of the top leading active wear retailers in the world, finally set a date for the release of their highly anticipated collaboration–announced in 2013. A website, Yeezy.supply, which included a countdown to February 12th at 4pm ET surfaced on Wednesday (Feb. 4) and left many speculating the meaning behind it. However last night, tweets from both, Kanye’s and G.O.O.D Music’s Twitter accounts confirmed the countdown leads to the premiere of the duo’s project.
A million rants later about his ex-partner, Nike, and his new partner, Adidas, the reality of the project and the anticipation for the collab is finally all in sync—two years later. The heightened anticipation comes from a number of places; the mysterious site that included unrecognizable sounds and a countdown, which left many speculating the meaning behind it; the tweets, (discovering anything on twitter is exciting); and, well, Kanye because it’s KANYE! Let’s also not forget his countless rants on being shunned from the fashion industry by leading fashion companies like Louis Vuitton and Gucci. The struggle the Chicago rapper had to go through to get where he is now was real, and for a long time no one had the answers on how he could break into an entire new industry and get the respect he deserves, not even Sway.
Only time will tell if this collaboration will lead Kanye to where he truly wants to be.
Update: Kanye’s Adidas sneakers were revealed today (Feb.7). Check them out below.
