Well that was quick. Not even 48 hours after agreeing to a buyout with the New York Knicks, Amar’e Stoudemire is reportedly joining the Dallas Mavericks. According to RealGM’s Shams Charnia Stoudemire has agreed to join the Mavs after receiving interest from other Western Conference teams including the San Antonio Spurs.
If you haven’t been paying attention to the Knicks (I don’t blame you), they are desperately trying to slash cap space and Stoudemire is the latest player to be shown the door. Thankfully the Knicks did something the right way and didn’t kick him to the curb. Stoudemire may not have been healthy after his first season, but he did bring the excitement back to Madison Square Garden and there is no Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler in New York without Amar’e.
Good luck to Amar’e and the Mavericks because they’re going to need it if they plan on competing in that Western Conference gauntlet come May.
