Although a winter weather advisory was in effect for nearly the entire day, R&B singer/songwriter Ne-Yo still managed to make his way to Hot 97, to chat with the station’s newest on-air personality, Nessa.
The singer was there to promote his album, Non-Fiction, which was released today (Jan.27). Both Nessa and Ne-Yo, along with DJ Enuff talked about the inspiration for his album, relationships, what Ne-Yo likes to do in his free time, and Kanye West. The interview ended with some warm words from Ne-Yo.
“I want to just say again congratulations to you…I’ve been peeping your movements and what you’ve been doing with the MTV’s and the this and the that…so congratulations for being over here…keep doing it and keep being blessed.”
Nessa will now host the weekday show from 3pm -7pm, which formally belonged to the great Angie Martinez for nearly 20 years until she made a big move to Power 105.1. Nessa is an LA native, who has been a host for San Francisco’s KYLD 94.9 since 2010. She is most known for her hilarious commentary on MTV’s hit show, Girl Code.
It is also interesting that as Hot 97 welcomed the new star, they said goodbye to an old one. Just as Nessa moved in, Cipha Sounds, who was with Hot for 17 years, moved out. Before Nessa, it was Ciph who held down the 3pm-7pm slot following Angie’s departure. Although he has no beef with Nessa, Cipha thinks Hot 97 could have handled the transition differently.
