There was a point in time when then NBA’s Slam Dunk Contest was the main event of not just All-Star weekend, but of the regular season. It’s where legends like Michael Jordan, Dr. J, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter and Dominique Wilkins made their names. But in the past ten years the contest has lost its way. Now they try a bunch of stupid gimmicks with last year’s “team dunk contest” a total bust.
This year it’s back to the original format with four dunkers. On paper this year’s participants are a snooze-fest. Names many wanted (Andrew Wiggins, DeAndre Jordan, Andre Drummond, Russell Westbrook) were absent, but if you take a look at each contestant’s body of work you might begin to think otherwise. Here are our grades for each of the 2015 participants.
