Chicago has consistently birthed quality rap artists; from Chance The Rapper to, of course, Kanye West. Next up on the scene is 18-year-old rapper Lucki Eck$. Eck$, whose real name is in fact Lucki, started making music in 7th grade, but did not take it seriously until his freshman year of high school. In July of 2013 he released his debut mixtape, Alternative Trap, which caught the attention of fans and critics alike for his wordplay and interesting production choices.
Working with producers like Plu2o Nash and Hippie Dream, Lucki rhymes over hypnotic beats, making him quite different than any aggressive rap you’d expect to hear coming out of Chicago. Since the release of his first project, Eck$ has collabed with FKA twigs, toured with Danny Brown, dropped his latest tape Body High, and released the Chance the Rapper-assisted cut “Stevie Wonder.” With all of the buzz surrounding him, it’d be best to keep an eye on Lucki. He’s next.
