Nicki Minaj has done it again folks. Not only has the “Anaconda” rapper graced us with her incredible sense of style, catchy lyrics, and crazy good dance skills, but also managed to have us in tears in a matter of 16 minutes with The Pinkprint Movie.
The movie, which premiered on REVOLT, is broken into four parts each featuring various songs off her new album, The Pinkprint. The 16 minute film takes us through the roller coaster ride of a painful relationship (probably hinting towards Nicki’s recent breakup with Safaree Samuels). The clip opens with “All Things Go” before moving into a scene of Nicki driving her car, crying over her newly lost relationship, featuring “The Crying Game.” But things take a turn for the worse when she crashes. The next scene opens up with “I Lied,” which shows the ups and downs of the troublesome couple. The movie finishes with “Grand Piano” and…I’m not going to spoil the end for you.
This release comes a day after Minaj’s heart stirring interview with Power 105.1’s Angie Martinez (below), where she discusses her new album and love life including her recent break up with Safaree Samuels, who she’d been dating for an extended period of time. Nicki confessed they split due to her fame. However, she made it clear that she is still mourning the loss of her relationship which was a big part of her life.
“My relationship was based on love…there was nothing but love there. This wasn’t someone I just picked up off the street. This is somebody I grew up with, like I don’t even know how im gonna function without this person in my life. Like, I’ve never lived my life as a famous person without him. I still want to tell him stuff and get his opinion.”
Nicki had to take a moment during her interview for emotional reasons, though she is not shown crying.
“It’s not just a relationship or a breakup, that was like a humongous part of my life. I know because of the world we live in. Relationships are not even sacred anymore. They’re so disposable. This is real deal. It’s something I’m dealing with publicly. If I were not putting out an album I wouldn’t talk about it…it’s not easy. I’m not gonna joke about it and disrespect him like he didn’t mean the world to me. And I’m not gonna be corny either. I’m just figuring it out.”
If you ever wanted to take a look into Nicki Minaj’s world, here’s a chance to have an emotional visual of the heart break the rapper is enduring. Make sure you stock up on tissues, because it’s sure to have you in tears.
