You’d think Willow and Jaden Smith would’ve discussed their upcoming albums—set to release this month—in their recent interview with T Magazine, but nope! Not even close. Willow and Jaden shocked readers when, instead, they ranted on about faulty drivers-ed classes, the importance of meditation, and Prana energy (whatever that is).

Some of the most odd quotes of the interview include:

“That’s what I do with novels. There’re no novels that I like to read so I write my own novels, and then I read them again, and it’s the best thing.”—Willow

Jaden reveals immediately after, that Willow has been writing her own novels since she was six-years-old. So out of curiosity, what were you doing in the first grade?

“I have a goal to be just the most craziest person of all time. And when I say craziest, I mean, like, I want to do like Olympic-level things. I want to be the most durable person on the planet.”—Jaden

Easy there tiger. I don’t know if the world can handle yet another child star losing it after having unrealistic expectations.

However, the most bizarre section was when the Smiths were asked “How have you gotten better?”

“Caring less what everybody else thinks, but also caring less and less about what your own mind thinks, because what your own mind thinks, sometimes, is the thing that makes you sad.”—Willow
“Exactly. Because your mind has a duality to it. So when one thought goes into your mind, it’s not just one thought, it has to bounce off both hemispheres of the brain. When you’re thinking about something happy, you’re thinking about something sad. When you think about an apple, you also think about the opposite of an apple. It’s a tool for understanding mathematics and things with two separate realities. But for creativity: That comes from a place of oneness. That’s not a duality consciousness. And you can’t listen to your mind in those times — it’ll tell you what you think and also what other people think.”—Jaden

Ummmm,, thinking of opposites is not necessarily something that I’ve heard of before, but go with it I guess. There are certain points where they give some really insightful ideas of their process when creating music and how they hope it will impact their listeners. For example, instead of sitting down and writing lyrics, Willow and Jaden enter the studio and free style it until they come up with a final product that they are happy with.

“Anything that you can shock somebody with. The only way to change something is to shock it. If you want your muscles to grow, you have to shock them. If you want society to change, you have to shock them.”—Jaden
