In 2011, Ab-Soul embarked on his Long Term Mentality project that was meant to contain three installments that would paint a personal picture of his life and personal development. Soul wanted to give his fans a view of the man he truly was outside of the studio. Back in 2011 in an interview with BlowHipHopTV he expressed his desire to have his fans go along with him on his musical journey.
“I wanted to do something to where all of my supporters and people that’s following me could actually witness the entire growth of the whole situation.”
Long Term was simply the introduction; Long Term 2 was meant to be a more personal view of where Soulo was at in his life; his last piece of the Long Term Mentality series, reportedly titled LT3: Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous, is meant to bring it all to a full circle. However, there is a lot of talk about LT3 NOT happening at all. In a recent interview with Montreality, Soul mentioned that he would like to put LT3 out, but it has to make sense to the TDE team.
“Longterm 3 has to be my first debut album. Like, In stores. If we as a team don’t feel like i’m ready for that next then it’ll be something else.”
Furthermore, because the Carson, California artist stays true to his album concepts, he feels that if the timing is not right and he is not actually “rich,” the album may never come out—hence putting a halt to the Long Term Series.
“Now, see that may never even happen. If I don’t get rich… The series won’t finish.”
During the interview “Young Mind Fuck,” also discussed Canibus’ influence on his career and unreleased records with Lupe Fiasco, that may be on Lupe’s upcoming album. Check out our interview above, drop a line and let us know your thoughts.
