Chicago bred Montana 0f 300 is a rapper whose music is classified as Drill rap, a subgenre of Hip Hop that focuses on aggressive lyrical content and trap-influenced beats.
The Chi-town native has been rapping since he was 15, and back in 2008 he helped create the rap group “300.” But don’t get it twisted, the “300” in Montana’s name does not mean he is any way affiliated with Chief Keef’s 300 Black Disciples. In fact, he made sure this was clear in his “I Don’t Like (remix),” rapping:
“You’re sweet as a kiwi/I’m 300 no BD.”
Instead, in an interview with Respecttheartist.com the rapper says the group’s name is based off of the Zack Snyder film “300,” and was picked particularly because of the movie’s line “No Surrender, No Retreat, Only the hard, only the strong, Against All odds.”
Montana’s videos on YouTube have been generating millions of views, thanks to songs like “Air Jordan,” “Chiraq (remix),” “Let That 40 Bang,” and a freestyle over Bobby Shmurda’s “Hot N***a.” The rapper is currently signed to his own record label Fly Guy Entertainment (FGE), which consists of himself, Talley Of 300, and Jalyn of FGE.
You can expect the emcee to drop his new mixtape “Cursed With A Blessing” on Halloween, and he promises the tape will be “Real Rap Resurrected in Rare Form.”
