Wounded Lion: Jon Jones Out of UFC 178 With Leg Injury

Jon Jones

Looks like we have to wait a little longer for Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier to throw down for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. Jones (20-1) suffered a leg injury in training and withdrew from UFC 178, pushing his title defense against challenger Cormier (15-0) to UFC 182 on January 3rd.

News of the Jones injury comes as big a disappointment for fight fans as it is for Cormier who are dying to see these two go to war. Following their press conference brawl and the constant back and forth trash talk many were excited to see the fight. It is unknown who will replace the main event for UFC 178 on September 27th. UFC President Dana White has to be sick over the injury as well. This is the third champion to be put on the shelf with the Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis and Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo also sidelined with injury.

Hopefully Jones recovers fine and Cormier stays healthy so both fighters come in one-hundred-percent. Anything less wouldn’t do this fight justice. Hopefully this is worth the wait.
