The New York Yankees just cannot catch a break. With three of their five starting pitchers already sidelined with injury the team couldn’t afford another injury. Unfortunately the team has now lost its rookie sensation Masahiro Tanaka to the disabled list with elbow inflammation.

After his two worst outings of the season Tanaka was complaining about discomfort in his elbow. The team flew their ace back to New York for a MRI today and Manage Joe Girardi informed reporters that Tanaka will indeed miss some time.
General Manager Brian Cashman is now put in a position where he might need to make a trade to salvage the season. Hiroki Kuroda is the last pitcher standing right now and he can’t carry the load by himself. Expect the Yankees to make a splash before the trade deadline on July 31st.
