Alex Wiley and Mick Jenkins link up once again for “Own Man.” The two Chicago emcees are slowly garnering much respect as they put out complete records full of substance. Wiley had this to say about “Own Man” and his upcoming records for the future:
“It’s a way more honest and personal project. I want people to feel like they really know me when they listen to something. People are listening to me now from all over the country, and when I visit their city, I want it to feel like a friend coming into town.
On a basic level, I’m better at rapping and also talking about experiences. Village Party is introspective but with a different bounce. It’s eloquent.”
Village Party will be out later this year.
