As we have all been probably seeing or reading in recent news, a new Aaliyah album is in the works. This has stirred up mixed feelings amongst family members, close friends, and fans. To top it all off hip-hop’s favorite Drizzy Drake and longtime friend producer Noah “40″ are caught in the middle of the world wind as Drake is expected to executive produce the posthumous album, which would consist mostly of previously unreleased material. The biggest concern in people’s mind was if we had to accept that a new Aaliyah album would be release, at the minimum it should contain artist she was known to collaborate with such as Missy Elliot and Producer Timbaland. If not it would certainly end up on this List. Yesterday, Billboard was able to put some rumors temporarily to rest and they released statements by their reps regarding the fate of Missy and Tim’s contributions to the album.
“Although Missy and Timbaland always strive to keep the memory of their close friend alive, we have not been contacted about the project nor are there any plans at this time to participate,” said Scott-Young. “We’ve seen the reports surfacing that they have been confirmed to participate but that is not the case. Both Missy and Timbaland are very sensitive to the loss still being felt by the family so we wanted to clear up any misinformation being circulated.”
Lets see how this all turns out. My opinion, don’t release an Aaliyah album. Aside from her amazing personality; when we think about her musically, lets hold on to the material that she did give us, the way she wanted us to hear it.
